【FAXINATION JAPAN】は、東京・世田谷にあるアーティスト・ラン・スペース「XYZ collective」のディレクターとアトリエメンバーが中心となり、国内外のアーティストが参加するプロジェクトです。※ プロジェクト全体を一つの作品とし販売する予定です。

[FAXINATION JAPAN] is launched to support restoration after the earthquake in east Japan. Studio members and directors at artist run space “XYZ collective” are organizing the project and artists from Japan and abroad join. We sell artworks received by fax machine from around the world, and donate 100 % of sales to Japan Red Cross. * Additional information about sale: Sent works on A4 papers are not on sale. XYZ collectiveでは、3月20日にグランドオープニングパーティーを行う予定でした。ですが2011年3月11日におきた東日本大震災の地震の影響により、延期することになりました。XYZ collectiveはアーティストが主導し、様々な企画を実験的イベントや展覧会を行うとともに、国内外のアーティスト同士のネットワークを確立するため、3月20日のオープンに向け準備してきました。しかし、今回の地震そして原発事故という壊滅的な被害を受ける状況で、私を含めディレクター陣は何が出来るのか、どういう行動をとるべきか、という事を数日間考えました。美術作家として活動をするべきか、それとも被災者として避難するべきか……。

そして私たちは、3月20日にXYZ collectiveで【FAXINATION JAPAN】というプロジェクトを立ち上げることにしました。

一台のファックスをXYZ collectiveに用意します。

私たちが知り得る限りの国内外のアーティストに連絡し、そのファックスに被災者や日本の人々へ向けた絵や写真、その他（ドローイング等）作品を送って貰うように呼びかけます。そして集まった作品を壁に貼り、その作品群を後日販売します。本プロジェクトはA4作品を一点一点販売するのではなく、プロジェクト全体を一つの作品として販売します。なので、コピー等はしません。販売で得たお金は100％を義援金として、日本赤十字社に寄付します。

＊ このファックスで作品を集めるという手法はXYZ collectiveの共同ディレクターである松原壮志朗が以前参加した、BILL SAYLORのキュレーションによる展覧会「FAXINATION」（2008年）から着想を得てます。タイトルもそのまま使っています。BILLとはすでに連絡をとりあい、【FAXINATION JAPAN】に協力してくれるとの回答を得ました。

【FAXINATION JAPAN】に賛同してくれるアーティストが、日本や海外にどれくらいいるのかわかりませんが、多くのアーティスとが参加し、沢山のファックスが集まれば集まるほど、より作品の力は強くなると信じています。

3月20日に【FAXINATION JAPAN】の立ち上げ会をしますが、余震や停電、そして原発の問題もありますので、XYZ collectiveに来ていただくのは、本人の危機管理にお任せします。しかし、【FAXINATION JAPAN】のプロジェクトに参加していただけるという方は、ぜひファックス（Fax：03-5799-4912）で作品を送信してください。日本だけでなく、海外のアーティストに知り合いがいる方は、是非彼らにも連絡してファックスを送って欲しいです。

＊ 届いた作品の販売にご理解いただける方のみ、ファックスを送信して下さい。

Currently, Japan is facing difficult time because of earthquake happened in 11th of March.

XYZ collective, an artist run space, originally planned to open in 20th of March.But the opening is postponed because of the earthquake.The space supports experimental events both domestic an foreign. Also the place aim to establish network here in Tokyo with artists as they gather here.With this earthquake and nuclear crisis, directors discussed what we can and should do in the catastrophic damage.Should we stand up as artists or evacuate as victims of disaster?

As conclusion, we decided to start project [FAXINATION JAPAN] at XYZ collective.

First, we prepare a fax machine at the venue.

we ask artists around the world to fax us paintings/pictures/messages on A4 paper.The sent works on A4 paper will be hang on the wall and sold.The 100% of profit from sales will be donated to Japan Red Cross.

Sent works on A4 papers are not on sale. The whole project [FAXINATION JAPAN] is on sale instead.
100 % of the earnings are donated to Japan Red Cross. The works on A4 will not be copied or sold one by one.

*This project is originally started by Bill Saylor. Soshiro Matsubara,our co-director, has joined the exhibition in 2008. This time we receive permission by Bill Saylor to appy the idea in Tokyo.

I cannot tell how many artists support the idea of [FAXINATION JAPAN],but I believe with the more artists join, the more stronger the artworks will be.

On 20th of March we will hold launch gathering, however, with aftershock, electrical outage and problems of nuclear plant, it is individual’s responsibility to keep oneself safe on the way.For those who join the project [FAXINATION JAPAN], please send us “artworks” through fax (+81-3-5799-4912). Please also spread the words to artists abroad.

**Please also note that works will be sold here in Japan. The works are not returnable.
**The project will last as long as we receive “messages”.
**For artists abroad, the telephone line in Japan has been very busy since the earthquake. We do prefer the works sent by fax, however, if the fax line is busy we accept A4 jpeg image by email.

ここから始まる。この場所から始まる。そんなトキメキのようなものが産まれる《場》でありたい。ここなんなの？ この場所はギャラリー？？でも凄い。ときめきの域からスリルの域まで、訪れた人間はトリップする場でありたい。日本の美術作家が自発的に、他ジャンル（ファッション、音楽、文学、ex）と交信し、可能性を実験する。そして、この場所を発進基地として実験的な行為を繰り返し更新していく。私の望みはアーティストがこの場を社会への窓とし集い情報交換をすることで、ネットワークを獲得していく事です。私は芸術という可能性を信じています。私の名前がCOBRA です。

It starts here. It starts at this place. XYZ collective is a place with exciting feelings. What is this place? Is this an art gallery? Anyway this place is amazing. From exciting castle to thrilling castle, every audience comes and trips. Artists experiment the possibility spontaneously intercommunicating with different genres such as fashion, music, literature and so on. The experiment continues on and on from XYZ. My goal is artists to exchange in formations at XYZ collective as they gather here and create networks. I believe possibility named art. My name is COBRA.
